When I started Valor CSR, I knew that it was critical to practice what you preach and demonstrate industry leadership in CSR practices. That’s why I’m proud to announce that Valor CSR is now the first Certified B Corporation® in Southern Nevada.
B Corporations are leaders of the global movement of people using business as a force for good. With the designation, Valor CSR joins an elite group of more than 2,000 companies in 50 countries and 130 industries that meet higher standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability including Patagonia, Etsy, and Ben & Jerry’s. Valor CSR is also registered as a benefit corporation with the State of Nevada, but the B Corp certification by B Lab provides objective, third-party proof of our performance and intentions.
Research shows that there are massive benefits to being a socially responsible company:
90% of customers will switch to a brand associated with a good cause
A well-implemented CSR program can add 4-6% to the value of a firm
91% of customers have a more positive image of a company that supports social issues
Strong CSR programs attract better performing workers
Not only do we want these benefits, but we want our clients to have them, too. Becoming a Certified B Corporation allows us to do both: we have access to companies around the world who are pioneering new and innovative CSR, and we must maintain a score of 80 or better on the B Impact Assessment (we currently score 97!)
The mission of Valor CSR is to create social impact by helping businesses do good. Recently, we put a number on that aspiration. If we can help small firms engage in strategic CSR, one of the potential impacts is an additional $2.7 billion given to charity each year. That’s a lot of good!
